Eastern New York Babe Ruth Travel Leagues provides an important component of local league offerings within our communities. In most cases this need is directed towards the higher skilled player; those with a desire for a higher level of competition than local league play offers. Presently Travel League baseball is provided at the Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth levels in two regions; Capital District and Southern Tier. Capital District Cal Ripken Division participating leagues Babe Ruth Division participating leagues Amsterdam, Albany Central, Ballston Spa, Cohoes, South Colonie, North Colonie, Guilderland, Niskayuna, Rotterdam, Saratoga, Schenectady, SORENSCO, and Queensbury
Southern Tier (generally leagues in District 6 & 7) Cal Ripken Division participating leagues Babe Ruth Division participating leagues Marlboro, Kingston, Saugerties, New Paltz, Catskill, Beacon, East Fishkill, East Fishkill
Travel League Boards Cal Ripken & Babe Ruth travel leagues are self administered by the membership. The president of each participating league will automatically have a seat on the board of the league. Each league elects its own officers and enacts specific rules appropriate for their area. A state district commissioner will serve as commissioner a dispute arise that requires a neutral party ruling. League Participation Two Tiers of Competition Where sufficient interest exists, leagues can determine if the team is best suited for a highly competitive schedule (American Division) or one that has teams that are a bit less talented (National Division) Duration of Season Begins in May. The exact date is determined by membership. All Star Break will occur on July 4th for approximately 1 week. After All Star play, games are continued with a round robin tournament. Entry Fees $75 per team. Babe Ruth Insurance covers travel league play so no additional costs are required. Entry fees per team will be set by the travel league boards but is expected to be minimal. Player Eligibility Must reside within local league boundaries Must be a member of and an active participant in, their local league play. All Star eligibility rules remain in affect whereby players must compete in ½ of local league schedule.
Pitching Cal Ripken Division limits pitching to 2 innings per player, per game. There are no pitching limitations in the Babe Ruth Division. Pitchers are required to honor "rest" as outlined in the Official Babe Ruth Rule Book. Rest is required by rule, regardless of where the pitching occurred; local league play, independent or school ball. Oversight and management of this will be the responsibility of the local league Presidents and the Area Travel league boards Recommendation is that no pitcher be prohibited from pitching in local league play. Local league programs will benefit by allowing all players to face better pitchers The typical overlap of local league play and travel/all stars is only 1 month in duration.

Rosters Rosters must be submitted to Travel Board Secretary. These are separate and distinct from regular season rosters and from All Star tournament rosters All players who are registered in local league play are eligible to be added to travel team rosters at any time. Players will be eligible for Champions Tournament if they are on a travel team roster as of July 10th. Players may be added after July 10th but will not be eligible to participate in tournament. Players may be moved from one roster to another with advance notice to and approval from the travel league player agent. This is expected to be left as a local program decision.
